Downloaded MCM tonight to parse through some files. Installed from the thread and auto-updated to 2.14.12215.1277. MCM started the first time fine, but after adding a new media location, crashed.

Now, every time I start MCM, it crashes before fully loading. I have several versions of .NET installed, including 4.5.

I've tried running it with administrator privileges and different compatibility modes.

Sorry if this is a repost, but I checked the other thread regarding something very similar, and it says solved about 41 mins ago.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try a reinstall from setup, or delete the contents of the /bin folder in AppData. If you still have issues, phase post the details of the crash.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled many times. It always starts the first time, the dies when adding the folder. After it dies, nothing fixes it by a reinstall. Tried rebooting before reinstalling, just in case.

Not sure of the crash details you're requesting. Just get a popup that says:

"MCMStubLauncher has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will clost the program and notify you if a solution is available".

Two buttons exist: Debug (which just closes the program), and Close Program.

Just tried uninstalling, redownloading, and reinstalling, and I get the same error after adding a directory (any directory).

I believe it has something to do with the video files. My files are encoded in .mp4 via Handbrake.

If I add a folder with an .mp4 in it, it will crash. If I remove the file, it starts up fine. I tried this with several different .mp4s that play fine on my PC and Xbox.

Windows event viewer should have more details on the crash. You can also use the Troubleshooter from the help menu to get video inspection details on a file, which I recommend doing on your suspect .mp4.

I created a folder and added a single .wmv file to the folder. I then ran the troubleshooting tools available from the Help menu.

I have the same problem. The two options I get are debug which closes the program or the option to close the program. I just tried to reinstall from the most recent download on your website and got the same error. I don't see an MCM folder in my AppData to delete any bins. Any ideas regarding how to resolve this would be highly appreciated.

While trying to fetch by imdb id in order to properly rename a movie, the program gave me an error

Couldn't write XML to E:\VIDEOS\HD Rips\Ride (1998)\movie.xml
System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file '<path>' because it is being used by another process.

Now I can't say if this is related, but it is with the most recent update that I thought fixed earlier problems. :(

Still in the process of shutting down MCM which is hung, so no further details atm.

EDIT: After forcing MCM to close, I was able to restart and retry the operation with success.

This just started happening to me today aswell. I start up MCM and whilst it is updating the list it crashed with the MCMStubLauncher error as above.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and it's just the same :-(

edit: I reinstalled but stopped the auto update running and it works, something with the latest update appears to be unhappy in my setup.

Ditto, same here, crashes on startup now after updating.. Sorry of this post is formatted wrong, still working on using the forum.

Since the latest update (today, May 03) MCM now crashes after loading the cache, everything looks normal starting up it goes as far as the status box showing "Looking for new items that aren't yet in your cache...". The I get windows popup, "Media Center Master Has Stopped working. Under details all I can see is:

Then all I can do is close the panel, and MCM closes. I have looked in the logs file and only thing that might be helpful the is the line "Media Center Master v2.14 (build 12215.1277)"
No errors show up in the log.
