Hi all, I'll keep this post as short and simple as I can:
Media Center Master is a great project that I will continue to personally use and maintain as long as it's reasonable to do so. This is not a farewell message by any means, but the project has certainly grown larger than I am able to provide personal support for to everyone who requests it. There's just not enough of me to go around even when this was my primary source of employment.
I'll be honest, it's tough coming to the forums with only a little bit of energy and hearing the raging disappointment some people have at how they aren't getting support, bugs and performance issues that are stacking up, etc. Largely problems that people should be exasperated with -- I know it and I carry guilt about these things, but when I come here with only so much time and energy left to put in, it's eaten up pretty quickly with that kind of hostility. It's gotten to the point where I largely just work on development and only pop in every now and then. And that's not the way it should be.
So in an effort to stay better connected with you all who use and love (or hate) my software and to provide an environment that's more satisfying to receive help, I'm going to launch an official Discord server that will let us better cross-talk about issues, solicit help from each other, and chase down bugs and issues with (hopefully) a better hive-mind approach to things.
I will most likely eventually archive these forums as a resource to look back. There is over a decade of content, guides, ideas, and common issues that are useful to new users or users with new problems... so I won't just delete the forums. But keeping up with spam and an aggressive community is exhausting and not how I want to spend my time.
As far as official support goes: Discord will be a place to solicit it from other users (and sometimes myself when I'm able) but I'll generally be limiting my direct support to things that really only I can help with (licensing and security issues). I probably won't get too involved in usage issues. I'll keep an eye out for major bugs that we've all reproduced and stay relevant with changes at our website dependencies and other evolving tech. Keep in mind I use Media Center Master every day, too, but I don't always use the same feature set everyone does and if I can't reproduce an issue, it's going to be difficult (or impossible) to fix.
I'd also like to thank doug, Tolerant, and numerous others who regularly come here looking to help out their fellow user with support when I fall short. You guys are really amazing and I appreciate you.
Thanks for the ride so far guys and I look forward to seeing you in the Discord server
