It's time for me to retire Media Center Master. I've been a paid user for several years, but the application just doesn't work anymore.

It has performed solidly for several years, but about 1-2 years ago the application just started to suffer, becoming more and more buggy and unstable. Now, it's essentially unusable for me.

It started with my Library list not automatically refreshing when a new title was added, showing up as a blank line in my library, and essentially requiring a hard refresh of the cache every time I added a new title, after which MCM would quit consistently. Now I can't even get it to run stably for more than a few minutes.

I've tried troubleshooting, posting messages here and to Discord, and of course uninstalling and reinstalling the app and starting from scratch several times. I even installed it on a brand-new Windows 11-based system, and it's just as buggy.

This morning I created a New User account, did a fresh install of MCM, and it just crashes persistently and freezes after populating with my library (~2,300 titles on a single NAS).

That's enough for me. I don't want to troubleshoot anymore.

My use case is simple: when I add a new MKV to the Movies folder of my NAS, I just want something that will move that title into its own folder and ideally download the metadata and poster art. That's it.

I use Plex as my playback system and for organization, and although Plex will find Poster art, I often customize my art (like adding my own "4K" label to the poster), and Plex doesn't make it easy to access the local files of poster art.

I can do all this manually, but I'd prefer a software solution. Any alternatives to Media Center Master that can help with this?

I've been looking at Sonarr and Radarr, but haven't had time to set either up. For now I'm just using a downgraded MCM until I get some time to mess with it.
