I have a pretty good PLEX library of over 2000 movies, over 300 series, and about a year's worth of audiobook listening.

I have a lifetime license for MCM. I just noticed there was a PLEX agent & scanner so I downloaded and installed. It doesn't seem to do anything. The only executable in the installation folder is an uninstaller and I don't see anything in the settings or menus of the MCM that pertains to PLEX.

I'm hoping this will make maintaining my library easier and better. Can I get some assistance for this program, please?

Several days after the Plex agent & scanner install, I'm not noticing anything different. What am I doing wrong? I don't understand what this software is supposed to do. I haven't found any documentation on what it does or how it does what it does. Can I get some help, please?

PLEX is on my Qnap NAS and I'm accessing it via computer, cell phones, and smart TV's.

I will have to dig out how to set up MCM as the agent in Plex, but when you do it right, you can select MCM as the video agent.

NOTE: You cannot change agents on existing media in a library, only new media will use the new agent. There are manual workarounds and it is a trade-off vs creating a new library and losing some plex metadata

MORE IMPORTANT NOTE: I moved away from MCM agent this year.
I still use MCM to create metadata, rename files and folders and get some posters etc. However the Plex agent is excellent and you end up with a much nicer Movies details page in Plex which more info better formatted.

@icstm how did you uninstall the MCM agent from Plex?
I find that even if I choose the standard Plex agent in my movie library I have no settings for the standard Plex agent in the server settings in Plex. It seems as if the MCM agent has taken that place. So apart from reinstalling Plex is there another way to remove the MCM agent from plex?

Never mind. I reinstalled Plex and started from scratch.
I really like the cover art the plex agent fetches.

So to answer the OP I would just use the Plex agent and not bother with the MCM agent. You can still choose to use some of the meta data from MCM in the Plex agent settings.
