With the new release today, I see that VidInfo.exe is being flagged by AVG as a potential dangerous program. As a result MCM is unable to process the video file and gives the following error...

3:45 PM :: MCM: Warning: this video file has invalid data. This frequently happens when the video is loaded with spyware (fake codec) and it is recommended that you re-download it without attempting playback. It is being skipped for now, per your configuration.

If I temporarily disable AVG then MCM processes the file perfectly.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Rob

Possibly due to obfuscation and because it's a binary that's not delivered to a Program Files installation folder (it's in AppData). The binary was updated today (consistent with a new version of MediaInfo.dll).

VirusTotal reports it clean (including, ironically, with AVG):

https://www.virustotal.com/#/file/013a4 ... /detection

Make sure your file hash matches.

SHA256 file has matches (013a49060a0cbbf3cb186bd68cd1b547aade0f6f66f65102a9cc5078bd158891)

If I right click on the file and have AVG check it, AVG reports no issues. It only has an issue once MCM begins to process the download, then AVG pops up and complains that the file might be dangerous.

Antivirus heuristics: causing people unnecessary grief for decades. :)

Well, I found in AVG where I could add an exception so I added C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Peter Souza IV\Media Center Master\bin which seems to work and keep MCM running smoothly. :)
