I have 3 things I’m trying to get MCM to do

But I’ll just do one at a time

1) how do I set this up to run in background and when it sees a new move fetch the metadata?

You can use the "Auto Scan" feature and set the interval via Application-S&P-General or if you are a Premium user you can use the download parser. When configured you place all new media in a Watch folder and the parser will see the new media and move and fetch metadata to TV or Movie library.

For the Download Parser.

Go to Application-S&P-Download Parser
Set a watch folder (a folder outside your library for MCM to process into your library)
Set your folder path for MCM to move Movies to
Enable Download Parser and any other option.
Go to General settings tab and set interval to run Parser

As for TV MCM will automatically parse episodes into their appropriate serie automatically, assuming they are already setup in MCM (a Scan folder).

If you just want to use Auto Scan, just enable it via Application and set the interval via Application-S&P-General. The will scan your set Scan folders and attempt to fetch any item missing metadata.

But I would personally use the Download Parser. But everyone's setup and needs are different.

doug

you were spot on.

now couple more questions but 1 at a time

say I have movie blah and its not so good.
I find blah way better

is there either a way for MCM to list duplicates or for it to just delete the bad copy.

and my second question

how to run MCM at computer startup but not have it be shown..

1. In reference to duplicates you can use the filter (View & Filter option button) and select show only duplicates. Then select the one you want to delete.

2. There is no way to run MCM as a service if that is what you mean. If you mean launch minimized and login you can add a command line switch to a shortcut in your startup folder.
