Will TVDB's new subscription base changes with api v4 break MCM? https://www.thetvdb.com/subscribehttps://www.reddit.com/r/PleX/comments/ ... scriptionsQuote: TheTVDB 1 day ago I can explain. Sorry for the confusion. If Plex decides to go with the licensed approach instead of the user subscription approach, everything else is irrelevant. It would function exactly the same as it does now, except they would be working off of our new API which gives increased functionality and speed.
If they do the user subscription approach, then access to the API for each user would require a subscription. A subscription gives you a PIN that you would have to put into Plex.
Plex could also decide to do a hybrid approach, where Plex Pass users get free access but everyone else requires a subscription.
There are no quotas or request limits with either approach, except that we detect if people are sharing their unique PIN. Will we get a TMDB TV fetcher and possibly a TVDB fetcher that users will enter their own key?

Quote: API key, if I had one, can continue to be used until early 2021, but only with the legacy APIs.

Also interested to know how MCM intends to implement this.

Quote: TheTVDB.com @thetvdb As we’re already in the middle of March, we wanted to provide an update on the deprecation of our legacy APIs. Due to a myriad of issues with the v4 API, we will be extending the cutoff date for all of our older APIs. The new cutoff date will now be October 1, 2021. https://twitter.com/thetvdb/status/1371 ... 43488?s=20

We may want to consider expanding into other metadata providers for TV and using dual sources as we do with movies so we can fill in missing gaps from one provider with another. Ideally a user option to enter their pin/key should be made available. But yes we have needed alternative TV options for awhile.

But agree a user level option would be benefit, if that is viable at the user level.
