I have thousands of TV Shows and Movies in MCM and finding it's performance very slow, fetching metadata etc. takes a lot longer than it use to, is there something I can do to improve the database performance?

Not that I am aware of.
Personally I use profiles for Movies and TV, only using one profile at a time.
