is there a reason the UltraHD show as lower quality than their bluray counterparts. I backed them up myself so they are not downloads where the creation method might differ between files.

All my 4k mkv files show as 53 for quality but Superior (4K UHD) on the description / general quality column.

The 1080p mkv files are shown as Excellent (1080p HD) are 100 in quality. These are also mkv.

4k came from a UltraHD bluray and the 1080p came from a regular Bluray. all three sets were copied over with makemkv.

I wasn't able to find anywhere this had been asked yet and might have missed it.

Came across the answer in another post after some more digging.

It has not been added to the program, yet.

See: "4K movies and TV, is it time?" (here) for more information.

That's an old post... it's not the 4K that's the problem (4K/UHD is absolutely supported by MCM long since that post), it's the resolution-vs-bitrate that needs updating. Quality is roughly determined by a number of factors and with more modern codecs like HEVC, the bitrate can come way down without effecting quality, something MCM needs to account for.
