A month or so ago I tried retrieving my license key by email and after many attempts nothing arrived in my Inbox/Junk etc. and postings went unanswered, so I ended up paying for another lifetime license and writing it down this time!!
Maybe it is a sign of abandonment.
I absolutely love this software!!

I checked into reports of inability to connect to the update server -- maybe it was down temporarily but I don't see any issues. Is it persisting for anyone? And no, I haven't abandoned the project by any means and still work on it and provide updates. I've spent a considerable amount of time looking into TTVDB API v4, for example (and it seems we'll have to swap to a new metadata service as it will cost a small fortune to use their metadata anymore).
