Hey there,

I like using XBMC as my movie software, I wanted to find out how one (if possible) uses MCM with XBMC.

I used MCM to fetch some metadata for a movie but XBMC isn't picking up the info...

Can you do this, if so how?

Thanks

Please auto-update to version 1.22 build 9710.725, where XBMC/Boxee metadata export during fetch is now supported.

What exactly happens when you do this?

I ask because I enabled the check box for Boxee/XBMC metadata, and then re-fetched a few TV series as a test, and it renamed the folder.jpg to folder_bk.jpg, and made a copy of the banner.jpg as the new folder.jpg. It also made a proper fanart.jpg and a tvshow.nfo.

I dunno if this is a bug, but now I don't want to try this new 'Create XBMC meta data for all new titles' if its going to do this to all my content, it took me a while to fix all the damage it caused. Thankfully it kept my folder.jpg files as a folder_bak.jpg or I'd have been real mad.

As a 7MC/MediaBrowser, and XBMC/Boxee user (the latter two I launch from within 7MC for what 7MC doesn't do well), I'd love to have MCM be able to get metadata instead, since it's able to better than they can (Boxee especially sucks at this).

XBMC and MediaBrowser won't play nicely together in the area of T.V. series, which is why I left support for the XBMC metadata generation separate. XBMC wants a banner for folder.jpg on T.V. series but MediaBrowser wants them to be posters, exactly why I have MCM making a backup of the folders for batch restoration/reversion. Movies are not affected this way.

Some views/themes for MediaBrowser won't ever use the poster for T.V. series and therefore could be used in conjunction with XBMC.

Oh well, I can live with this the way it is then. XBMC isn't so horrible at scraping as Boxee is and gets 95% of things right, and Boxee I only use for its streaming capability.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Would it be possible to have an option to use the poster files for the folder.jpg instead of the banner if we prefer? The theme I use on XBMC looks better with the poster files, so I would rather use those.

If not, do you have a batch file that will replace the folder.jpg with the folder_bck.jpg or have some sort of way to do that in the program?

You could use a batch file with post-processing, sure. MCM has a post-processing tab in settings.

I would also like to see Folder.jpg remain as a portrait mode "CD-Case" image, even if I asked for XBMC meta data. I have a mix of Boxee and Win 7 WMC, and I care far more about how it looks in WMC. ie Folder.jpg == Folder_bak.jpg

FWIW: I tried this in the "Post-Processing" configuration without any success. No CMD.EXE appeared to startup and there was no error message I could find.

Code:
cmd.exe
/c "copy /F Folder_bak.jpg Folder.jpg"

I even tried "%comspec%\cmd.exe" for the first line.

Set the post-processing to a batch file and add your copy command to the batch file.

Actually, I figured out what the issue is... The place I want this most is for TV shows and your "Post-Processing" option says:

Quote:
"This will happen for movies and adult titles; T.V. series and episodes are not yet supported.

In other words, it doesnt matter what I put in the post processing dialog, the "folder.jpg" is never replaced by "folder_bak.jpg" since the batch file isnt invoked on TV series folders.
