A handy thing to have in the metadata is the codec used to encode the media files - is it possible to add this feature <codec></codec> to the metadata - you could tap into the mediainfo.dll to check the codec used and automatically add this to the metadata.

That is neat, but won't Mediainfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download) basically give you the same functionality? Mediabrowser picks this up and puts nice looking icons up.

I have something like this on my to-do list, but I think I may lean in favor of not adding it since that library supports it. Though I'm not a fan of having to hack up DLL's to get it to run in MediaBrowser. All the same, since the feature is already out there, it won't be a priority for me to get to this anytime soon.
