The version of FFMPEG included with MCM is very out of date. Could it be updated to the current one?

Could you explain what a newer version of ffmpeg would offer?

I re-encode the movies in my collection because some of the movies that get downloaded (due to upgrades) are poorly encoded. Re-encoding them fixes problems I have in Kodi with the pause button disappearing.

The problem occurs far less often with the newest versions. For instance, I have overwritten the FFMPEG and FFPROBE you keep in the appdata/roaming folder with the new versions and it works a lot better than previous.

Also, why not update from a 2018 version? You would think the newest version would contain a lot of bug fixes that could make the features you use work better?

Stream designation syntax changed in the more recent ffmpeg builds and are incompatible with some of the features MCM will attempt to use. This is also documented with the builds of VideoLogic.

Incidentally, you should look into VideoLogic to automate some of that process for you.
