Interesting...

This definitely used to work. It even took the format of the MPAA rating that Ember uses; in my instance that is UK:U, UK:15, etc. to complete the ratings in MCM. See screenshot below. This is actually one of the reasons why I prefer using Ember over MCM for movie data and artwork; there is more control.

Also you will see right at the start of this thread this appeared to be existing functionality and was fixed in issue 1597.

Out of interest Doug, are you one of the developers?

The screenshot below (link to my public Dropbox) is from my movie library that was created prior to this issue reoccuring and when MCM would use/read the Ember nfo. I never had to use MCM to fetch metadata; it would always use existing metadata files such as the Ember created nfo to populate the xml MCM created.

Any news on why this might have stopped working?

I pm'd Pete to see if this was ever suppose to work the way you expected it to. From my understand is should not have ever worked.

Hello - I pm'd Pete a few days ago but unfortunately I have not heard back from him.

I think I will raise a bug on the issue tracker. Here is my logic:

MCM should be picking up existing metadata files and reading them regardless if those files were created by MCM or another tool.
I know for a fact that this used to work as I have outlined my process above and this is how I have always managed by collection, however perhaps a recent update has now stopped this from working.

Sorry but until Pete confirms it I don't believe is should have ever worked, and if it did it would have been a fluke. My understanding is the only time a external txt or nfo file is read is looking for a imdb url during processing or fetch procedure and nothing else.

MCM has always been dependent on xml files and has several complaints about this limitation. There are feature request to have a either or format, but we are still here with required xml format. Hopefully Pete will drop in and clear up this issue soon.

Ok but if you look back at the start of this thread you will see it worked and that Pete fixed it at the time...

Added support for Ember's version of movie.nfo, which deviates from Kodi/XBMC's specs. Thus this was a feature request, not a program defect/bug. Nonetheless, it's rolled into today's auto-update patch. :)

See above for adding support of the .nfo creasted by Ember and reading the metadata contained in it.

Media Center Master will now try to auto-import IDs from this style of NFO metadata,
which does not follow Kodi/XBMC movie.nfo standards.
The way I would interpret that is MCM will try to read the ids from Ember nfo (same way it tries to read other txt and nfo file for ids), when making the MCM movie.xml. MCM is a xml based program. You can not only have Ember movie.nfo and expect it to be identified (not red) in media list.

I am expecting it to read the metadata within the nfo and then create the xml. That is what it used to do. And I think you are now stating it should at least read the nfo to pick up some data of sorts.

The nfo has the metadata and therefore there is no need for MCM to have to fetch it again by scraping.
