I have been using WDTV Live for a couple years now. Media Center Master supports this device, but the latest firmware releases are a little unstable.

The third party apps are ok, I still have cable so I only use MLB and Netflix. WD pulled Pandoria if you are in the US so I lose that music service.

Is anyone using a good solid streamer box? Your input and feedback welcome.

The Roku is mostly an internet streamer, not so much a home movie streamer. i.e. the codecs are lacking.

With Ebmy server it will direct play or transcode any file I have without any issues.

I am not normally a fan of transcoding, have never really seen the quality I liked.

Although both of my TV's (Visio and Samsung) are "Smart", they have apps for online media services and even support Plex. Their interfaces sucks and I hate having so many remotes. So I use my cell phone with a Samsung remote control app. I think the Visio does this too.

I use Roku's on both of my TV's instead. Because I use my cell phone with a roku remote app. I dont have to use the bulky roku remote or worry about AA batteries. I can also control the plex app running on my roku from the Plex app on my phone. This function also works when the Plex app is running on either of the Smart TV's. (i assume)

I also have an app installed to control the volume on my Sony sound system. This system has the worst "smart" functionality and interface. This is connected to my Samsung TV. The Visio uses a cheap sound bar.
