I have one ripped movie mp4 that shows a picture even though there is no folder.jpg in its directory. I have several mp4's for which I cannot change the genre. In properties for the mp4 the genre is set as MyDVD as it is with all of the film that I can edit the genre. If I edit the mymovies XML directly Mediabrowser/MediaCenter does not recognize the change. If I use MCM to edit the genre the change is not picked up in MB/MC. I have gotten rid of all the metadata ans started over many times. It just seems like the jpg in the first case and the genre in the second case are embedded somewhere that takes precedence over what MCM MB uses. Any ideas? Thanks

I have never heard of or seen anything like what you're describing.

First, you do know that MediaBrowser has it's own cache of metadata, including pictures that it creates as thumbnails from a random timeslice near the beginning of the video file, right? This is not stored in the .mp4 and I highly recommend you clear the MediaBrowser cache to assist with troubleshooting. Check with the MediaBrowser wiki and forums for more information.

Secondly, I'm assuming that after you have edited and saved the genre information, you have restarted MediaBrowser by closing and re-starting Windows Media Center, right? When I do this, it works just fine.

Also, let's make sure that you don't have duplicate folders. It could be very frustrating trying to debug C:\Videos\Some Movie when you have another folder with the same information (even if it's a different folder name). Check your list of media titles to see if it shows up twice.
