Hi guys

First of all thanks for the great program, it has saved me a lot of time catalouging all of my Movies. I would purchase the Full version irrespective of the added features as a show of support however due to tough financial times i cant.

My question relates to moving a a lot of movies (all ready catalouged with MCM and being displayed through media browser and windows media center) to another file location as to get more space.

What's the most painless way to do this?

I've done this many times with 8TB of movies and have found that Super Flexible File Synchronizer (now called Syncovery) does the job really well. http://www.syncovery.com/download/windows/
There's a free 30 day trial too :)

When you have a load of large files to move in windows it can be a pain when, just after you go to sleep it encounters a read only file and the process stops for confirmation - not the case with this application. It's also faster than the windows copy or move process and you can schedule it to run at nighttime or obey speed limits etc so you can still use your computer effectively.

I use BestSync to backup my entire NAS nightly. The basic version is on sale for the next week and a half or so for $14. It's very configurable and transfers files across the network very fast.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was actually unclear in what i was asking . I have created Metadata of all movies from IMDB for WMC and Popcorn. If i just use copy and paste in windows to another windows location will metadata be kept or will i have to go through and recreate the metadata

Yes, don't worry, the meta data will be kept, it'll just take a minute or two in MCM to rebuild the cache of a collection of say 2500 titles.

I always run MCM on a server that has mapped drives to my NAS where video files are kept. That way if I have to switch or move storage, I just close MCM, move the data, map drives to new folder, and MCM is none the wiser.
