I recently started to use media center master. Before I was using a combination of Salami Movie Browser and metabrowser (old version from 2009). The first to get Dutch movie info from moviemeter.nl and the second one to get the remaining info.

I found out that there was a moviemeter plugin available with MCM.
I installed it (unzipped the Dlls in my appdata\Peter ...\bin folder and also unlocked them).
In MCM indeed moviemeter plugin popped up and I selected it as primary fetcher with as secondary fetcher themoviedb.org.

But when I start scanning any movie, moviemeter.nl is not able to find the movie. For all movie's I have.
I am using Windows Vista SP3 and latest MCM (1.32)

Attached I have added a log-file for the movie Limitless

i included a rar.
It includes 2 files, place it in appdata\Peter ...\bin folder

(yes overwrite the old moviemeter.dll)

Now fetch again.

This file logs to a special log at c:\moviemeter debug.log

Please post that log here..

I found the problem.

When I tried to run it with the debug version of moviemeter.dll it did not generate a moviemeter debug.log in C:\ So it looked like MCM could not open the moviemeter plugin.

After I reran mcm with administrator rights, the moviemeter plugin did work.
So for some reason in my installation I cannot use the plugin without administrator rights?

Any idea what can cause this? Do I need to make folders/files writeable by a user?

Thanks for the help so far!

It's really not -- by default, Windows restricts programs to not write to locations they're not permitted to, like outside their user app folder (%AppData%) or installation path. Writing to the C:\ requires administrative privileged. You shouldn't be dumping debug or anything else there ;P

I just did an uninstall of mcm, including deleting the Peter Souza stuff in AppData and register.
After that I installed the latest version (1.33 of yesterday).

This followed by the moviemeter plugin found in the file (moviemeter fetcher.zip) in the 'moviemeter.nl fetcher' post. So besides the moviemeter.dll I do have the CookComputing.XmlRpcV2.dll installed, but not yet the moviemeter.pdb file.

Than I again tried to fetch the info for one of my movies. Same result:
1) Not able to fetch anything with normal user right
2) Working great with administrator rights.

And also without the moviemeter.dll and moviemeter.pdb file provided in an earlier reaction to my initial post, the file moviemeter debug.log is created in C:\ !?!
This can indeed be the reason that the moviemeter plugin does not work with normal user rights.
Why is this debug.log also enabled by default in the original moviemeter.dll?

It works great with administrator rights. So thanks! But it would be even better that I do not need to run MCM with administrator rights.
Can you provide a moviemeter.dll with disabled logging?

remove the pdb file, normally the default moviemeter plugin is without logging

senne, a PDB file is a 'program database' that a program debugger can use to trace through code. It does not cause the code to behave in any particular way, so its presence (or absence) won't turn on or off logging.

You need to re-evaluate your source code for this plugin that logs to the disk and prevent it from writing outside of its permitted folder structure.
